Actos

Actos (pioglitazone) is a medicine used to control blood sugar levels in patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. This drug is therefore intended for type II diabetes and is not going to treat type I diabetes (insulin-dependent). The following drugs can lower your blood sugar levels and should not be used along with Actos: monoamine oxidase inhibitors, sulfa drugs, aspirin, and probenecid. Alcohol can lower your blood sugar levels even further and affect the success of your treatment, as well as your wellbeing. Make sure you let your doctor know if you drink alcohol regularly. The following are signs of low blood sugar levels (you will need to have some source of sugar that you will need to carry around with you for such cases): irritability, weakness, sweating, fainting, seizure, confusion, drowsiness, fast heartbeat, dizziness, and headache. Some of the health conditions you have may affect the success of your treatment. If you have any of the following problems, you may require additional tests before taking Actos for your diabetes: history of heart attack, history of stroke, heart disease, congestive heart failure, or liver disease. Such mild side effects of Actos as tooth problems, sneezing, headache, muscle pain, and runny nose tend to be short-lived and will go away once your body adjusts to the dose prescribed.
